A referral from your general dentist is not required in order to schedule your first appointment at Ortega Orthodontics.
Please provide the following information at the time of your initial visit:
- A completed health history form prior to your first appointment.
- If you have dental insurance, we recommend you bring your insurance information to this visit so that we can review your benefits during the exam.
- If you’ve had any recent x-rays at your general dentist please ask your dentist to send them to our office prior to your initial examination.
If a panoramic radiograph is not available from your general dentist, our office will take one. The panoramic radiograph is different from the x-rays that dentists generally take to detect cavities.
A thorough exam and review of the panoramic radiograph allows the doctors to give you their professional recommendation regarding the appropriate orthodontic treatment, if any is required.
If orthodontic treatment is recommended, an office staff member will discuss fees for the service, our flexible payment options, and appointment options.
Orthodontics is one of the best investments you can make in the overall dental, medical, and psychological well being of both children and adults. Because of this reason, we believe financial considerations should not be an obstacle in the way of obtaining this valuable health service. We are sensitive to the fact that this is a significant investment for the average household and we are happy to help with flexible payment options.
After your initial exam, the next step is diagnostic records. Complete diagnostic records include photographs of the patient’s face and teeth, necessary x-rays, an iTero scan or impressions for study models, and bite registrations.
Diagnostic records may be completed at the initial exam or at an alternative time. It is often more convenient for all parties to combine the exam and the record appointment if time allows. If you are interested in completing the diagnostic records portion of your treatment during your first visit, please let us know at the beginning of your appointment and we will make every attempt to complete the records process that day.
Once all of your diagnostic records have been analyzed, you will have a consultation with an orthodontist. The orthodontist will discuss your treatment options, which are specifically designed for your individual case, as well as answer any questions you may have regarding your orthodontic treatment plan. After the consultation, payments will be reviewed in detail and insurance needs will be finalized.
