Early Treatment

Early-Treatment-Page_3

In certain cases, early orthodontic treatment can have a significant impact on the ability to establish the proper foundation to assist with growth and development. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that all children have a check-up with an orthodontic specialist no later than age seven.

At age seven, the permanent teeth are beginning to erupt so we can check for problems related to jaw growth, crossbites, and eruption of adult teeth. Some of these problems are more easily treated when identified early on.

*At Ortega Orthodontics there is no charge for these early examinations.

An early orthodontic evaluation generally does not result in immediate treatment. After evaluating your child, we can make decisions regarding the appropriate time for treatment, as well as the appropriate recall schedule necessary in order to monitor eruption of permanent teeth and jaw and face development.
